That's because you need to obfuscate the password when you set it in the parameters.  Call ManifoldCF.obfuscate(String) to do that.

This is usually what happens when there is an exception.  It should be dumped in the log (under test-HSQLDB-output/manifoldcf.log).  I'll see what happens here.
