Agreed.  Perhaps the Solr servlet should use the path information for  
selecting the request handler:  /solr/search/standard, /solr/search/ 
mlt, /solr/search/dismax, etc.

And a /admin, /stats, and/or a /tools paths would be a good  
separation.  /tools/analyzer, /stats/cache...
