A pity we may not make the 1.4 release, but I guess there is no harm in trying!

Looking through the code for XPathRecordReader I see a variable skipNextEvent inside the parse
method. Can anybody explain why we need to skip an event at the end of a text block?

it would be nice to be able to use expressions such as //tagname when parsing XML documents.
