Looking at it, there's no actual query parsing going on. 
You could call LuceneQParser, but it just doesn't seem like the right place for it. 
The original LocalSolr code created a filter to perform the geo-distance stuff- but it did
have 
to duplicate a lot the SearchComponent code.
