Subject Lucene Search Error: Java.io.IOException: Bad file descriptor

Hi Everyone

I am getting the the following error when executing  Hits hits = 
searchers.search(query, queryFilter, sort):

18007414-java.io.IOException: Bad file descriptor

Does this mean the index is corrupted? Any idea why it would be corrupted?
