Hi,

only to be sure:
You know IndexModifier.deleteDocument(int)?
It is deprecated, because you should use
IndexWriter.deleteDocuments(Term[]).

What do you mean with "index is committed".
If you mean "optimize()" the document number will change (so there is a
side-effect;-)
