I think Luke should serve your purpose. After you install luke from
http://www.getopt.org/luke , use the GUI to open the 'index' directory

Click on documents tab on the top.

On the top-left is the button to 'Browse by doc. number'. The limitation
is that only 'stored' fields are visible.
