Thanks for replying. I have read
http://wiki.apache.org/solr/DataImportHandler, and have done the nessary
changes for configuring database.

I am  getting the following exception, i want to know what i am missing
here:
Severe errors in solr configuration.

Check your log files for more detailed information on what may be wrong.

If you want solr to continue after configuration errors, change: 

 <abortOnConfigurationError>false</abortOnConfigurationError>

in solr.xml
