Subject [jira] [Commented] (SOLR-7343) IndexWriter is always used to reopen index readers

Yonik Seeley commented on SOLR-7343:
------------------------------------

Seems like lucene should provide a way to open from the IndexWriter (so pooled readers can
be shared), but just open the last commit point rather than making uncommitted data visible?

> IndexWriter is always used to reopen index readers, and the updateHandlerReopens parameter
is ignored with respect to that.
> The effect of this is that a master can't commit and ensure that the view of the index
will be the same as what the slaves will replicate. Same issue with using a shared filesystem
and having one writer with multiple readers.
