Subject [jira] [Resolved] (LUCENE-5872) IndexUpgrader can leak an IndexWriter

Ryan Ernst resolved LUCENE-5872.
--------------------------------

    Resolution: Not a Problem

This is actually not an issue on trunk, as there was cleanup recently in {{shutdown()}} that
made it resilient to exiting without actually closing. While I believe it is still possible
on 4.x right now, it looks like that cleanup will be backported. So I'm closing this one.

> {{IndexUpgrader.upgrade()}} currently calls {{IndexWriter.shutdown()}} inside the finally
block. However, if shutdown fails with an exception, the writer will not be closed.
