There are other ways to deal with that, for example the update requests can have a getSchema()
thats implemented differently. Or it can be required that reopen/commit happens to make the
new fields visible. 

I think ideally it would actually be core reload: I'm really worried about the possibility
of bugs the way this is heading. I think its dangerous.
