Subject [jira] [Updated] (LUCENE-4447) BlockPostingsFormat file format docs should stand on its own two feet
Date Tue, 09 Oct 2012 03:48:03 GMT

Robert Muir updated LUCENE-4447:
--------------------------------

    Attachment: LUCENE-4447.patch

first stab at a patch with just some minor cleanups.

I like how this format only described its blocktree metadata section etc, I think this is
easier to maintain so I did the same with the current postings format and factored the guts
of blocktree into BlockTreeTermsWriter's docs.

> Currently in some places this links to / compares to the current codec.
> I think it should be standalone, e.g. this text about comparison could be folded into
the history section of the fileformats docs, and it should contain all info (not link to Lucene40
for the .tim format and so on)
