whoops, before putting mouth to action, one should use brain... just quickly skimmed over
this issue and stumbled on " ...If no one speaks up for a whole release cycle, they are gone..."
out of context, so I concluded user data is gone.

Of course, they do not have to be static, I read it only on restart so even if I do not need
open IR, it is not an issue to open it once...
