just some trivial test modifications so the tests work with an unmodified LuceneTestCase:

* in some cases, if an assertion failed it would print the seed... but LTC does this.
* in other tests, the test wanted to repeat a random sequence, but instead of exposing LTC
internals, the test just grabs random.nextLong, makes a new Random from this, and then resets
it with .setSeed.
