Thanks for the pointer Bogdan, it's interesting you use transferTo instead of read... is there
any advantage to this?  You still need to create a new object every read(), but at least it
looks like a smaller object.

It's also been pointed out to me that http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-414 has
some more NIO code.
