Maybe the ScoreDoc could be, in this case, augmented to include the field value
that sorting is based on.  Then the TopDocs from each sub-search could be merged
based on that value.  Perhaps the cleanest way to do this would be to, in the
sorted API, replace ScoreDoc with FieldDoc, that contains just a document and a
field value.  Then the result would be the TopFieldDocs or somesuch.
