A thought:

Should SortField have another field:

  private boolean isIncreasing = false;

  public void setIncreasing(boolean isIncreasing) { this.isIncreasing =
isIncreasing; }

Normally each of these sorts results by decreasing values, but, specifying this
would cause them to be reversed.  Or, alternately, you could have a natural
ordering for each (decreasing for doc and score, increasing for others) and
specify an isReversed flag to reverse things.  One way or the other, we probably
 ought to support reversed results, no?
