Different search results using wildcard in a single term query

Summary: Different search results using wildcard in a single term
                    query
           Product: Lucene
           Version: 1.2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows NT/2K
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: QueryParser
        AssignedTo: lucene-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: max@osua.de

I'm using Lucene 1.2 and getting differnt results with wildcard in a query:
the following
queries:
buttons
Buttons
bring me the same number of hits, while the
next
button*
Button*
completely differ: if 1-st letter is capital, then no hits returned at
all.
In all cases org.apache.lucene.analysis.standard.StandardAnalyzer is used for both
indexing and searching.
