Subject RE: Figures on Log4J usage
Date Wed, 19 Jun 2002 22:48:31 GMT
As a follow up to my previous post, I tried doing simple google searches for
the various logging packages. Here are the hit counts I got:

	alphaworks logging	3,480
	java.logging 6,770
logkit 12,000 (lots of irrelevant links)
	jlog 2,990
	jras 2,280
	log4j 101,000

If I assume that the number of references to each logging API is indicative
of the community using/discussing it, then log4j wins overwhelmingly.

Best regards,
Jim Cakalic

Thanks for the reply ceki.

I understand you can't give specific numbers. But can you tell the
figure. Cos' my Colleague claims it is less than 10% compared to other
which i am not ready to believe but at the same time not able to disprove it

If you can give approx numbers, its good . Otherwise never mind. I
understand .

I can't give you specific numbers on log4j or other projects. I think
it is fair to say that log4j is widely used. Log4j will continue to
improve by leaps and bounds such that in the future our qualitative
edge will not erode but widen.
