Thank you, Sam.  That works perfectly.  And fortunately the 8 Meg jar isn't
needed for deployment (since I'm not using those features), just to compile.

You can download the J2EE SDK from java.sun.com.  I don't think there's an
implementation of JMS in the SDK, but the client classes are present and
that should be sufficient to compile log4j (although I don't know, I haven't
tried it.)

I'm trying to compile log4j 1.0, but it won't do so with out JMS.  Where can
I get the needed JMS files?  All Sun's site has are the specs, no classes,
and there's no link given in log4j's documentation.
