I believe I mentioned that when I proposed this. That is because $$\{marker} says to look
for a property named "marker" while $$\{marker:} says to use the Marker Lookup and find a
key with a null value.  The only other option I can think of would be to require something
like $$\{marker:*}

The "%marker" is not part of the Layout. When using SLF4J, since it's a core feature of the
facade, this would help greatly if it was possible to route messages based on the Marker.
