            Bug ID: 54635
           Summary: Can't truncate priority to first character
           Product: Log4j
           Version: 1.2.17
          Hardware: Macintosh
                OS: Mac OS X 10.4
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Layout
          Assignee: log4j-dev@logging.apache.org
          Reporter: daniel.lipofsky@nasdaqomx.com
    Classification: Unclassified

I would like to setp a PatternLayout that outputs 1 character per priorty
level, i.e.

debug -> D
info  -> I
warn  -> W
error -> E
fatal -> F

I tried using "%.1p", "%-.1p", "%1.1p", and "%-1.1p" but these all output the
last letter (G, O, N, R, L), which is clearly not what would be desired in this
case.
