Subject UGLI replaced by SLF4J
Date Fri, 22 Apr 2005 16:26:29 GMT

Greetings to all,

As a result of discussions held on this list and on commons-dev, a new
project based on UGLI has been started outside Apache Logging Services
with the intention of benefiting the wider OS community.

   http://www.slf4j.org

The code source is licensed under an X11 type licensed (also known as
MIT license). This ensures compatibility with both the Apache Software
License as well as GPL or LGPL and should facilitate wider adoption.

I intend to approach the jakarta-commons community (in particular JCL
developers) and invite them to join. A new start should allow for
participants from the commons-dev community as well as Apache Logging
Services to share their knowledge in more open and cordial atmosphere.

We'll see how it goes. :-)
