Subject log4j problem while used in two applications
Date Mon, 27 Dec 2004 11:06:59 GMT
Hello all.
I am facing the problem with log4j configuration in
two separate applications.
I am using CONSOLE appenders for both of them. They
are started separately (in two shell windows).
The first app (App1) is assembled as WAR and deployed
under Jboss (it has log4j-1.2.8.jar in WEB-INF/lib)
and the other (App2) is remote application deployed
separately (it uses another log4j-1.2.8.jar placed in
its classpath). Both applications are phisically on
the same machine.
The problem occurs when some class from App1 invokes
some class from App2. Then logging disappears from
shell window of App1. However logging into file works

My question is:
- Is there a way to accomplish console logging for two
applications into two different shell windows?

Here are the configurations for both of them:
App 1
log4j is configured through log4j.xml
<appender name="CONSOLE"
      <param name="Target" value="System.out"/>
      <param name="Threshold" value="INFO"/>
      <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">
      <!-- The default pattern: Date Priority
[Category] Message\n -->
      <param name="ConversionPattern"
value="%d{ABSOLUTE} %-5p [%c{1}] %m%n"/>

it uses log4.j properties file loaded at startup.

log4j.category.CONSOLE = , aCONSOLE
log4j.appender.aCONSOLE =

Thanx in advance for your answer!
