Santiago Gala commented on LABS-116:
------------------------------------

A wild shot: I'm having problems (in python) with gajim versus some servers (gmail.com and
jabber.org, not others), and only when gajim uses starttls with TLS. It looks like there is
a problem, difficult to diagnose, probably in openssl-0.9.8g (gentoo, maybe depending on processor,
timing, the other side, etc.). I keep seing obscure TLS related bugs pop up. I'd suggest to
try the same client with SSLv2_v3 instead of TLS. This works for me as a workaround. I can't
test easily openssl as such as there is no starttls support for xmpp in the package, so I
can't rule pyopenssl.

> Nothing seems to happen on StartTLS negotiation when using xmpp client Psi 0.11, while
it works with clients like Smack. The communication just seems to stop. No errors, no timeouts.
