Stefan Seifert commented on KARAF-2651:

there is a thread on the mailing list on this: http://karaf.922171.n3.nabble.com/Minimal-Distribution-td4036238.html

i'm looking forward for having a really minimal distribution as well, without aries blueprint,
pax web etc. because it is not always required. i want to have full control over each feature
and bundle that is installed.

> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KARAF-2651
> Project: Karaf
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: karaf-core
> Affects Versions: 3.0.0

> The Apache Karaf minimal distribution is like a Unix distribution: it downloads most
of the features/bundles during bootstrap.
> However:
> - the featuresBoot should really be minimal (for instance, the ssh feature should not
be a boot feature)
> - it doesn't make sense that the system folder is so large. The system repository should
be "minimal" as most of the bundles are downloaded from Internet.
