Subject [jira] [Commented] (KARAF-772) Cleanup Karaf assemblies
Date Tue, 13 Sep 2011 04:05:08 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KARAF-772?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13103318#comment-13103318

David Jencks commented on KARAF-772:

I don't understand your comment (2). It's easy to remove the -bin if you like from both artifacts
in a build (lines 93 and 99 of CreateArchiveMojo).... this would be fine with me, are you
suggesting something else?
BTW I would name this CreateServerArchiveMojo since I can never tell whether it's for the
server assemblies or kars without looking at the code.

for (3) I prefer to have all the scripts for all os in each distro so you can e.g. use the
zip anywhere you want as long as you're willing to update the file permissions. Do you see
a problem with this?

I set up the framework kar and full feature so as to not modify the existing standard and
enterprise feature repos. Once we remove the old-style apache-karaf assembly it seems reasonable
to me to move the features in full to standard (and make a "spring" feature repo) but I wouldn't
do that before verifying that the new assemblies are acceptable replacements for the old ones.

> Cleanup Karaf assemblies
> ------------------------
> Key: KARAF-772
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KARAF-772
> Project: Karaf
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: karaf-core
> Affects Versions: 3.0.0
> Reporter: Jean-Baptiste Onofré
> Fix For: 3.0.0
> We made some enhancements in Karaf 3.0.0 around assemblies: usage of the Karaf maven
plugin, etc.
> Unfortunately, the current Karaf assemblies is a little mess :)
> We have to:
> - define clearly the Karaf distributions
> - the way that we use the Karaf maven plugin to generate distribution (documentation)
> - cleanup the assemblies module
