Andreas Pieber commented on KARAF-579:

In fact it would even be better to make the lock file location configurable allowing to save
it somewhere more logical in the linux file system (on a server if you try to split up karaf)

> Write lock file to ${karaf.data} instead of ${karaf.home}
> ---------------------------------------------------------
>                 Key: KARAF-579
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KARAF-579
>             Project: Karaf
>          Issue Type: Improvement
>    Affects Versions: 2.2.0
>            Reporter: Andreas Pieber
>             Fix For: 3.0.0
> to allow karaf to run in "strongly limited environments" (e.g. no write permissions to
its directory) no files should be written to ${karaf.home} but rather to ${karaf.data} which
can easily be moved to another directory.
