Subject [jira] [Created] (KAFKA-6773) Kafka consumer without group.id crashes when requesting offset on a topic-partition
Date Tue, 10 Apr 2018 22:20:00 GMT
Konstantine Karantasis created KAFKA-6773:
---------------------------------------------

             Summary: Kafka consumer without group.id crashes when requesting offset on a
topic-partition
                 Key: KAFKA-6773
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-6773
             Project: Kafka
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: core
    Affects Versions: 1.2.0, 1.1.1
            Reporter: Konstantine Karantasis
            Assignee: Jason Gustafson
             Fix For: 1.2.0, 1.1.1

After recent changes, when a KafkaConsumer requests the current offset on a topic partition
(e.g. via a call to {{position}}), the following exception is thrown if the consumer doesn't
belong to a consumer group ( {{group.id}} is unset):

{code:java}
