Why x 3?

Surely you only want 2 Thread Groups, the second with only one thread?

Probably not on a single host, but it's extremely unlikely that you
need to run so many threads.

Remember that JMeter can generate a much higher load than a single human.
Also, a single JMeter thread can run as several different users in succession.
This has been discussed many times on the list.
