Hi,
 
I tried the latter suggestion 
adding
log_level.jmeter.samplers=ERROR
to the properties file but it still keeps logging my sampler's results.

Remove the -l flag from the command line (e.g. take a copy of the
jmeter-n script and edit it), or change the properties to log errors
only.
