Subject RE: 2.0 HTTP Request Sampler features
Date Thu, 15 Apr 2004 14:48:09 GMT

"Redirect automatically" means that the underlying HTTP protocol handler is
asked to process the redirects - so JMeter should never see them.

If JMeter detects a redirect, "follow redirects" means that JMeter will load
the new page.

Early versions of Java did not handle redirects properly, or at all.

The docs do need to be updated...patches and/or bug reports welcome!

hi joe,
the new "use as monitor" is for the new Tomcat Monitor in 2.0. The user doc
page is below.
basically, tomcat 5.0 has a status servlet, which will return information
about the number of threads, and memory usage. Based on that data, JMeter
will monitor the server and show the performance history.

I have a couple of questions on some of the new, currently-undocumented 2.0
HTTP Request Sampler options:

1) What's the difference between "Redirect Automatically" and "Follow
2) What does "Use as Monitor" do?
