Hi Michael,

my experience with many versions of a node/many childnodes show, that 
performance not only for getting the latest version is bad but also for 
checking in new versions.

Please refer to my conversation with Alex[1].

Our approach to this problem is to move the old versions to a seperate 
repository in order to speed up version operations.
