Awesome, that's exactly what I needed to know, but one more question,
when I changed persistence managers the webdav client still loaded the
content in the repository but when I tried to access the node through
the api I received an ItemNotFoundException.  Just for my own peace of
mind, why is that?

you'll have to reload/migrate all of the content.
