Thomas Mueller commented on OAK-36:
-----------------------------------

+1

An implementation detail: Instead of complete query parsers, it might be easier to implement
converters (that convert a statement from one language to another language). As a prove of
concept, I have started to implemented such a converter in org.apache.jackrabbit.oak.query.XPathToSQL2Converter.
As such converters don't necessarily need to rely on implementation classes, they can be used
both in oak-jcr or oak-core. This design also simplifies testing. But whether a QueryParser
implementation internally uses a converter or not is an implementation detail, so the above
interface is fine.

> Implement a query parser and decide on a versatile AST representation which works with
all query languages and which is extensible to future query languages.
