Date Fri, 03 Apr 2009 12:08:13 GMT

Marcel Reutegger reopened JCR-2027:

IndexMigration always opens index readers without initializing the hierarchy cache, which
is OK, but this prevents a later initialization based on the configuration parameter.

> Remove background initialization of hierarchy cache
> ---------------------------------------------------
> Key: JCR-2027
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-2027
> Project: Jackrabbit Content Repository
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: jackrabbit-core
> Affects Versions: core 1.4.9
> Reporter: Marcel Reutegger
> Priority: Minor
> Fix For: core-1.4.10, 1.6.0
> Attachments: JCR-2027.patch
> This is a follow up to JCR-1998.
> Rethinking the initialization in a background thread again, I now come to the conclusion
that it should be initialized either completely on startup or not at all. A background thread
puts additional load on the process, possibly fighting for I/O with other startup procedures.
