NPE in VersionImpl.getSuccessors during concurrent use
------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: JCR-2040
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-2040
             Project: Jackrabbit Content Repository
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: jackrabbit-core
    Affects Versions: 1.5.2
         Environment: Windows XP pro on ESX virtual machines run behind windows load balancing;
Sun java 1.5.0_02
bundled DB persistence manager on mssql 2005
            Reporter: Brett Connor

I have a small monitor program accessing Jackrabbit instance inside a jboss server. This repeatedly
treewalks a workspace from the root reporting various statistics. There are 5 jboss instances
with Jackrabbit clustering set up.

Every so often (maybe once a minute) the monitor crashes with a NullPointerException at

org.apache.jackrabbit.core.version.VersionImpl.getSuccessors(VersionImpl.java:88)

I don't think the cluster is an issue because I've seen this exception before with a single
instance, but currently we're testing in a cluster when we get this.
The line in question is
            ret[i] = (Version) session.getNodeById(suc[i].getId());

I think from memory when I've caught this in the debugger before it was suc[i] that is null.
