Matthijs Wensveen commented on JCR-1207:

While there is talk of the descendant-or-self axis, the example given is of the the shorthand
form of the descendant axis. The descendant axis is supported, but not whithin predicates,

> predicate support of descendant-or-self axis
> --------------------------------------------
> Key: JCR-1207
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-1207
> Project: Jackrabbit
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: xpath
> Affects Versions: 1.3.3
> Reporter: Mark Waschkowski
> As described at the bottom of JCR-247, support for predicates on the descendant axis
would be a helpful feature, one that we have recently realized we needed with our soon to
be in production system, and one that we currently have no workarounds for.
