glad to have you on board. you keep me away from introducing half-baked changes 
into jackrabbit ;)

How about a new parameter:

enableConsistencyCheck = [true | false] (default: false)

or do you prefer:

disableConsistencyCheck = [true | false] (default: true)

I prefer the first one.
