this is probably due to a bug in jdk and spaces in the codebase. see:

workaround: set useCodebaseOnly system property

System.setProperty("java.rmi.server.useCodebaseOnly", "true");
RemoteAdapterFactory factory = new ServerAdapterFactory();
RemoteRepository remote = factory.getRemoteRepository(repository);
