Seva Safris commented on INFRA-17522:
-------------------------------------

Hi Gavin, I've figured it out! Emails sent from jira@apache.org have an unresolvable HELO
hostname, which was being rejected by my postfix server. I've removed this restriction, and
now emails are coming through.

I have been able to recover my original account.

For your reference, here are the relevant mail logs:

Jan  3 18:43:03 postfix/smtpd[24638]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from pnap-us-west-generic-nat.apache.org[209.188.14.142]:
450 4.7.1 <spamd4-us-west.apache.org>: Helo command rejected: Host not found; from=<jira@apache.org>
to=<s**a@s****s.c*m> proto=ESMTP helo=<spamd4-us-west.apache.org>
Jan  3 19:17:07 postfix/smtpd[25896]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from pnap-us-west-generic-nat.apache.org[209.188.14.142]:
450 4.7.1 <spamd1-us-west.apache.org>: Helo command rejected: Host not found; from=<jira@apache.org>
to=<s**a@s****s.c*m> proto=ESMTP helo=<spamd1-us-west.apache.org>

>From me research into this issue, I've learned that the big mail relays don't enforce
the reject_unknown_helo_hostname rule. It seems my server was too pedantic for my own good.

Thanks for your time and attention!

> I have an older account on issues.apache.org under the name [~safris]. When I request
to reset the password, I do not receive an email. I am certain as to which email is associated
with the account. Is there someone who can help me with this account?
