Subject [jira] [Updated] (INFRA-17518) How do I release official images up on Docker hub under the "apache" user?
Date Tue, 01 Jan 2019 10:08:00 GMT

Gavin updated INFRA-17518:
Status: Waiting for user (was: Waiting for Infra)

I have 2 suggestions.

1. Use Jenkins to do both, that is build everything needed and push out to Nexus staging and
to Dockerhub - both I believe use creds we have baked into Jenkins so no need to be putting
creds anywhere.

2. Start a discussion on the mailing list. There are many projects that push
to Dockerhub, a fair few not using Jenkins - in these cases we auth their dockerhub accounts
to write to the dockerhub repos, infra can set up those creds.

Come back when you've decided which way to go.

> Currently we release our code following a manual process which uploads various JAR files
to a staging repo on; after voting we then release to maven central.
> I'd like to extend this process to also create a Docker image, for release on docker
hub under the "apache" user (or whatever constitutes the official location for Apache releases).
> This would basically be an image that would assemble the already released artifacts and
add them as a new layer to a standard Tomcat image, then upload the resultant image up to
docker hub.
