Subject [jira] [Created] (INFRA-17234) Login input fields instead of basic auth for OAuth
Date Fri, 09 Nov 2018 22:00:00 GMT
Marco de Abreu created INFRA-17234:
--------------------------------------

Summary: Login input fields instead of basic auth for OAuth
                 Key: INFRA-17234
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-17234
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: Identity Management
            Reporter: Marco de Abreu

Hello,

I'd like to request whether there are any plans to have regular input fields for oauth.apache.org
(to get there, click on "Sign in with Apache" at https://lists.apache.org/oauth.html) instead
of usage of BasicAuth (the popup window).

My main concern here is that these popup windows are not supported by popular password managers
like LastPass. Especially on mobile phones, it requires to switch apps to copy the credentials
(LastPass can inject them into active browser input fields without having to switch windows).
During this step, the popup gets closed and I have to reinitiate the login process.

Having regular input fields would greatly speed up the login process, especially on mobile.
