Subject [jira] [Created] (INFRA-16709) Svn commit authentication failed; rejected Basic challenge in response to svn checkin of KEYS file
Date Mon, 02 Jul 2018 16:38:00 GMT
Sean Broeder created INFRA-16709:
------------------------------------

Summary: Svn commit authentication failed; rejected Basic challenge in response
to svn checkin of KEYS file
                 Key: INFRA-16709
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-16709
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Project
          Components: Subversion
         Environment: Linux edev06.esgyn.local 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 26

            Reporter: Sean Broeder

This is related to INFRA-16606. I am trying to update the project KEYS file in order to be
able to act as release manager for the next Trafodion Release. The resolution to the aforementioned
ticket correctly pointed out that I needed to be a PMC member to be able to check in the KEYS
file. Since that time I have joined the PMC and at least some of my credentials updated so
I no longer get the same error. I now receive this:

[sbroeder@edev06 traf_release]$ svn commit -m "Added new public key for sbroeder to KEYS
file"
Authentication realm: <https://dist.apache.org:443> ASF Committers

failed: Could not authenticate to server: rejected Basic challenge (https://dist.apache.org)

I’ve done a Google search using the error and found this link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10440685/what-is-the-cause-and-solution-to-svn-could-not-authenticate-to-server-rejecte#13741257

I see the error indicates the authentication realm is ASF Committers. I’m not sure if that
should be something like PMC members or if such a thing exists. Any ideas, or do I need to
contact INFRA again?

Thanks in advance for your help.
