Subject [jira] [Created] (INFRA-16639) Mangled mbox
Date Mon, 11 Jun 2018 23:02:00 GMT
Sebb created INFRA-16639:
----------------------------

             Summary: Mangled mbox
                 Key: INFRA-16639
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-16639
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Mail Archives
            Reporter: Sebb

Discovered a mailbox with a rather strange structure:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/httpd-dev/200002.mbox

---- cut here ---
>From new-httpd-owner-new-httpd-archive=hyperreal.org@apache.org Tue Feb 01 08:53:34 2000

>From new-httpd-owner-new-httpd-archive=hyperreal.org@apache.org Tue Feb 01 16:23:52 2000
Delivered-To: new-httpd-archive@hyperreal.org
... rest of message

>From new-httpd-owner-new-httpd-archive=hyperreal.org@apache.org Tue Feb 01 11:25:19 2000

>From new-httpd-owner-new-httpd-archive=hyperreal.org@apache.org Tue Feb 01 16:23:52 2000
.... rest of message
---- cut here ---

There is a single 'From_' line followed by a blank line, then another 'From_' line which starts
the message proper.

This is repeated multiple times in the mbox (but not for every message; the problem stops
at around line 22730).

Note also that the "From_' line which immediately precedes the message is the same in each
case; the timestamp generally does not agree with the contents, whereas the lone 'From_' line
does have a similar time to the following message.

A possible fix would be to delete the blank line and the duplicate 'From_' line immediately
before the messages.

The problem only seems to that mailbox
