Subject [jira] [Resolved] (INFRA-16414) Issues with any23 URLs
Date Mon, 23 Apr 2018 21:27:00 GMT

Chris Lambertus resolved INFRA-16414.
-------------------------------------
    Resolution: Won't Fix

any23.com/org are namecheap hosted redirects. in order to have SSL work, we would need to
buy certs for them, which we've already stated we're not going to do. we could point the DNS
directly at the TLP servers, but that would generate an SSL error and probably display the
openoffice https page. IMO a complete fail/hang is better than a security warning and incorrect
URL routing. If [~gstein] wants to address this in any particular way, he can chime in here,
but I'm closing this as 'won't fix'. As far as why .org/.com redirect to different places,
that'd be something you might ask the project.

> Issues with any23 URLs
> ----------------------
>
> Key: INFRA-16414
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-16414
> Project: Infrastructure
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Website
> Reporter: Sebb
> Priority: Minor
>
> themis and tlp-eu-west have definitions for various server names:
> servername: 'www.any23.apache.org'
> serveraliases:
> - 'any23.org'
> - 'any23.com'
> - 'www.any23.com'
> However these only apply to port 80; there is no corresponding SSL site AFAICT. Attempts
to use https: just hang.
> Also there is no DNS entry for www.any23.apache.org
> Also any23.org redirects to http://any23-vm2.apache.org/
