Subject [jira] [Issue Comment Deleted] (INFRA-15876) Issues with Flink mailing lists
Date Sun, 21 Jan 2018 11:26:00 GMT

Martin Grigorov updated INFRA-15876:
------------------------------------
    Comment: was deleted

(was: Thanks, [~sebb@apache.org]!

I see now that Whimsey has new UI. Last time when I used it it was possible only to subscribe,
I think. And AFAIR it wasn't possible to select the email, and to unsubscribe from there.
Now it looks much better!

For some reason the entry for my personal email is disabled in the unsubscribe drop-down though.
And according to the MAILER-DAEMON responses I have no subscriptions for Flink mailing lists
with my apache.org email.
I will play some more and create a new ticket against WHIMSY if the Flink entries do not disappear
from my subscriptions. I have already unsubscribed from dev@, issues@ and commits@ few hours
ago but I still see them in WHIMSY.)

> I've subscribed to several Flink mailing lists in the past via https://whimsy.apache.org/committers/subscribe
> Today I wanted to unsubscribe and I've found several issues:
> 1) It seems JIRA sends notifications to issues@flink.incubator.apache.org instead of
issues@flink.apache.org
> AFAIK Flink is TLP for 2-3 years, so no need of "incubaror"
> 2) sending an email to users-unsubscribe@flink.apache.org fails with:
> {code}
> Hi. This is the qmail-send program at apache.org.
> I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
> This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
> <users-unsubscribe@flink.apache.org>:
> Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)
> --- Below this line is a copy of the message.
> Return-Path: <martin.grigorov@gmail.com>
> Received: (qmail 15253 invoked by uid 99); 21 Jan 2018 09:48:40 -0000
> Received: from pnap-us-west-generic-nat.apache.org (HELO spamd1-us-west.apache.org) (209.188.14.142)
> by apache.org (qpsmtpd/0.29) with ESMTP; Sun, 21 Jan 2018 09:48:40 +0000
> Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])
> ....
> {code}
> For some reason the command unsubscribe does not work for users@ mailing list. It worked
fine for commits@, dev@ and issues@ (incubator).
> 3) it seems using https://whimsy.apache.org/committers/subscribe to subscribe uses my
real email address (martin.grigorov@gmail.com) instead of my Apache alias (mgrigorov@apache.org).
Is this by design ?
> I'd like to participate with my @apache.org email in Apache discussions. If Whimsy cannot
do it then I guess next time I should just send email to users-subscribe@tld.apache.org from
me@apache.org ?
