Jacques Le Roux commented on INFRA-15836:
-----------------------------------------

[~cml] No in this case it's not related with IRC. And sorry my report was incomplete. It missed
to show the received notifications.

[~gmcdonald] here is a picture taken from the link I provided above, I mean
https://lists.apache.org/list.html?commits@ofbiz.apache.org:lte=1M:ofbizTrunkFrameworkPlugins
where I filter on the ofbizTrunkFrameworkPlugins branch to easier isolate it and better view
what happens
!Image 001.png!
We can see in yellow that initially a state change occured and then 5 success w/o failure
between.

Now !Image 002.png! shows the content of my Builbot mail box (filtered in Thunderbird for
messages sent from buildbot@apache.org) filtered on ofbizTrunkFrameworkPlugins word, there
are 15 messages. I show only the last height ones.
As you can see the 12/01/2018 there is a success , then failure and then a success the same
day. That's OK we get the expected notifications. But then after we get successive repetitive
unexpected success notifications.

I think I know why. We know Buildbot can send the same notification (success or failure) when
you use IRC[1].

What we see here is different. I wrote above:
<<Note that this concerns the ofbizTrunkFrameworkPlugins builder which is trigerred
by both direct commits and also depends from commits in ofbizTrunkFramework. I checked this
is indeed related when commits are alternately done directly in the plugins branch and the
trunk branch. I don't know if there is a cure to that. I think we can live with it. I'll let
the community knows in case we need to make a decision about that. >>

So if you confirm what I say here we can close this issue and must admit that's how BuilbBot
works, et voilĂ . I hope I was more clear and complete this time, sorry for the confusion
because of the missing emails showing what we see for OFBiz Buildbot notifications.

[1] That rarely happens because you only want to use IRC to force a failed build when it
should not, which happens from time to time (like svn issue or port 8080 used by Tomcat, etc.)
. Of course sometimes Buildbot is right to fail so you get another failure notification and
that's OK (the same can happen for success for other reasons).

> INFRA-15394 fixed the previous issue but there is still a case where we get repetitive
success, or failure, reports.
> Since that's hard to demonstrate I prefer to put a link to our dev ML where I explained
the issue:
