Subject [jira] [Commented] (INFRA-15801) trim list of domains that we service (via DNS, http redirects, etc)
Date Mon, 08 Jan 2018 06:15:00 GMT

Greg Stein commented on INFRA-15801:

I've changed over to Namecheap's BasicDNS, so we have no need to manage that
any more. The remaining (3) domains either change somewhat often, or refer to our hosts and
keeping them in svn will make it easier to track dependencies as those backends move around.

(tho we should really use more CNAMEs, so we don't need to worry about IP changes as services

> At the moment, the ASF owns/manages 38 domains. Historically, these were served by our
hidden master, and slaved to 3rd parties helping us out. These are now primarily served as
redirects by Namecheap, and no longer need to be in our zone files, slaved, or have redirects
served by our TLP servers.

Thus, we do not need a zone file or service for this domain.
> Please clean out all extraneous domains from our DNS and http/redirect servicing. Either
proactively, or during the construction of a "dns-vm".
> And I believe lastly, to inform our downstream DNS providers to trim their set of served
domains, to the list of four.
