Gavin updated INFRA-13632:
--------------------------
Status: Waiting for user (was: Waiting for Infra)

Not sure what you want us to do here, the tool env is automatic and not something we define
ourselves but comes from the drop down lists.

> Define universal variables for Java, Ant etc

> Key: INFRA-13632
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-13632
> Project: Infrastructure

> The Jenkins instances have lots of 'Tool environment' variables which hold the locations
of the JDK, Ant etc.
> However these all appear to be specific to the host type, so are no use for defining
jobs that may run on (say) both Ubuntu and Windows.
> Where the same version of JDK, Ant etc exist on multiple hosts there should be a fixed
variable name with the relevant value for each host type.
> Whereas at present there are for example:
> ANT_1_8_4_HOME
> ANT_1_8_4_WINDOWS__HOME
> I would expect ANT_1_8_4_HOME to point to Ant 1.8.4 on every node where it is installed.
> Similarly for other tools. Otherwise there does not seem a lot of point in them; one
might as well use the Wiki pages that list the installation paths.
